Henry H1 Western Rifle – A Return to Classic American Marksmanship
The Henry H1 Western Rifle brings a heritage of precision and reliability to your shooting bench. Chambered in both .22 S/L/LR and .22 Magnum, this lever-action rimfire is a versatile choice for plinking, small game hunting, and target practice. Built by Henry Repeating Arms, the H1 Western reflects traditional craftsmanship with modern metallurgy. Whether you are teaching a new shooter or stocking a ranch saddle scabbard, this rifle delivers consistent accuracy without unnecessary complexity.
Overview
The Henry H1 Western Rifle is a lightweight, fast-handling lever-action that accepts three .22 caliber variations and also fires .22 Magnum rounds with a simple action change. Its steel receiver, American walnut stock, and polished blued finish honor the look of a classic Western saddle gun while keeping weight under six pounds. The rifle’s 20-inch barrel and adjustable rear sight make it ready for shots from 25 to 100 yards. It feeds reliably from a tubular magazine and cycles smoothly thanks to Henry’s time-tested action.
Features & Specs
Every component on the Henry H1 Western Rifle is chosen for function and longevity. The following specifications highlight what sets this rimfire apart from budget alternatives.
- Caliber compatibility: .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Long Rifle, and .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (switching requires a simple bolt-face insert)
- Barrel & action: 20-inch octagonal blued steel barrel; smooth lever action with a forged steel receiver
- Stock & sights: American walnut straight-grip stock with buttplate; fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and brass bead front sight
Additional specs include a 13-round tubular magazine capacity for .22 LR and an overall length of 38.5 inches. The rifle weighs 5.8 pounds empty, making it easy to carry through brush or on a long hike.
Who It’s For
The Henry H1 Western Rifle suits multiple shooters without compromising on core performance. New owners appreciate the low recoil and intuitive lever throw, while experienced marksmen value the dual-caliber flexibility and traditional fit. This rifle is ideal for:
- Small game hunters who need a quiet, accurate .22 for squirrels or rabbits, plus a .22 Magnum option for larger varmints
- Target shooters who want a reliable plinker for tin cans or steel targets at the range
- Collectors or enthusiasts seeking a modern production rifle that stays true to the lever-action legacy of the American West
Because the H1 Western runs on standard .22 ammunition, it is economical for high-volume practice. It is also a strong choice for a ranch truck gun or a backup survival rifle due to its light weight and durable finish.
