Description
The M400-TREAD V2 COIL is a modern striker-fired pistol built for shooters who want a flat-shooting, optics-ready platform right out of the box. It’s a solid choice for competition, duty, or serious range use, and its integrated compensator system is what really sets it apart from other polymer-frame guns.
Key Features
- Integrated Compensator: The slide is ported and paired with a threaded barrel and a proprietary muzzle device. I’ve run hundreds of rounds through similar setups, and this design genuinely tames muzzle flip, letting you get back on target faster.
- Optics-Ready Slide: The slide is cut from the factory to accept a wide range of micro red dots using the included mounting plates. You’re not locked into one proprietary footprint.
- Enhanced Grip & Trigger: The aggressive texturing is no joke—it locks your hand in place. The flat-faced trigger breaks cleanly at a consistent 5.5 pounds, a noticeable upgrade over many stock triggers.
- Full-Ambidextrous Controls: The slide stop and magazine release are mirrored on both sides, making this a truly lefty-friendly pistol.

Honest Assessment
Pros: The recoil mitigation from the coil compensator system is effective and reliable. The gun is completely ready for an optic and a weapon light, saving you money on aftermarket machining. The ergonomics and trigger are excellent for a production pistol.
Cons: That compensator adds length, making it less ideal for concealed carry. It’s also a bit more involved to field strip and clean compared to a standard barrel. After decades of testing, I’ve seen firsthand that ported slides can direct gas and carbon back toward the shooter’s face more than a non-ported gun.
Who Should Buy This
This pistol is for the shooter who wants a performance-oriented 9mm for USPSA Carry Optics division, home defense, or as a flat-shooting range toy. It’s also a great option for left-handed shooters tired of adapting to right-handed controls. If your primary goal is a compact carry piece, look elsewhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the compensator be removed for a suppressor?
Yes. The barrel is threaded 1/2×28, so you can remove the factory compensator and install a suppressor or a different muzzle device. Just know the slide itself is still ported.
What optics fit the included plates?
The plates accommodate popular footprints like Trijicon RMR/Holosun 507C, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Shield RMS-S. Check the manual for the complete list.
In my shop, these systems run best with full-power 124gr and 115gr range ammo. Very light target loads (under 115gr) may not generate enough gas to work the comp effectively, which can lead to cycling issues.
